Starting an Area
Information about starting an area is included in the Nar-Anon Guide to Local Services section called “Area Structure.” Guide to Local Services (GLS) can be found on the Service Literature page.
“An area may be formed by Nar-Anon groups, with similar circumstances, to join together for mutual support and cooperation, and to provide a two-way communication channel to express the groups’ conscience with their selected region. Approval for the formation of an area rests solely with the groups within the proposed area. Groups interested in participating in an area can take a group conscience to decide if they wish to be part of an area.” @
Once an area is formed, please notify the World Service Office by using the New Area form on the world service website.
Area Service Committee (ASC)
“The Area Service Committee (ASC) meeting is held in a central location within an area to hear reports and to discuss area and group matters..” @
“An ASC may establish subcommittees to carry out the work within an area at its discretion and/or to support region priorities.” @
